- January 05 – An anthology of poems by 157 blind poets from around the world titled "Fountain of Light" is released in a Braille version at Kolkata.
- January 17 – Shankha Ghosh, the celebrated Bengali poet who had won India's highest civilian as well as literary honours dies aged 89 of COVID-19 complications.
- June 10 – The celebrated Indian Bengali poet, lyricist and multiple national award-winning filmmaker Buddhadeb Dasgupta dies peacefully at the age of 77.
- June 25 – The Pulitzer Prize winning American poet Stephen Dunn died at the age of 82 from Parkinson's disease complications.
