    • Serie A decides to close for a round the football stadiums that can accommodate a maximum of 5000 spectators due to the spread of the omicron variant.
  • 13 January: 10 years after the sinking of the Costa Concordia in which 32 people died.
  • 15 January: in Turin a man kills a little girl by knocking her off a balcony during a game.
