Cam Sims (born January 6, 1996) is an American football wide receiver for the Washington Football Team of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Alabama and was signed by Washington as an undrafted free agent in 2018.

College career

Sims attended and played college football at Alabama from 2014–2017.[1] He was used sparingly his first two seasons before being a consistent contributor during his junior and senior seasons.[2]

Professional career

Sims played high school football for Ouachita Parish, later attending Alabama to play college football.[3] Sims graduated after four years at Alabama and wasn't chosen in the 2018 NFL Draft. He later signed with the Washington Redskins as an undrafted free agent on May 2, 2018.[4][5] He suffered a season ending ankle injury in the first game of the 2018 season against the Arizona Cardinals, and was placed on injured reserve.[6]

On August 31, 2019, Sims was waived by the Redskins and was signed to the team's practice squad the following day.[7][8] He was promoted to the active roster on October 2, 2019.[9] Sims was released by the team on October 19, 2019, but re-signed to the practice squad two days later.[10][11] He was signed to the active roster on November 16, 2019.[12]

He was waived by Washington on September 5, 2020, but signed with their practice squad the following day.[13][14] He was elevated to the active roster for the team's first two games of the season against the Philadelphia Eagles and Arizona Cardinals,[15][16] and was promoted to the active roster on September 22, 2020.[17] He recorded his first career touchdown in a Week 6 game against the New York Giants in 2020.[18] In Week 9, against the New York Giants, Sims caught three passes for a career-high 110 yards for his first 100-yard game as a professional.[19] Sims had five receptions for 92 yards in a Week 13 win against the then undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers.[20][21]
