The Leader of the City of York Council is the leader of the largest political group in the City of York Council. The Leader of the Council and the cabinet (consisting of all the executive councillors) are collectively accountable for their policies and actions to the city council. The current holder of the office, Liberal Democrats' Cllr Keith Aspden, was appointed on 22 May 2019, following the 2019 City of York Council election.

The office was established following the Local Government Act 2000.
