Murphy Smith (born August 25, 1987) is an American professional baseball pitcher who is a free agent. He previously played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Toronto Blue Jays.
Career
Smith attended Shenendehowa High School in Clifton Park, New York, and Binghamton University, where he played college baseball for the Binghamton Bearcats. He was named All-America East Conference in 2009.[1]
The Oakland Athletics selected him in the 13th round (393rd overall) of the 2009 MLB draft.[2] The Athletics released him in 2015. The Blue Jays signed Smith before the 2015 season. After pitching for the Buffalo Bisons in 2018, he was promoted to the major leagues on August 27,[3] and debuted that day. He was designated for assignment on September 1.[4] He elected free agency on November 2, 2018.
