Councillor Peter Fox

Peter Alan Fox OBE is a county councillor in Monmouthshire, Wales, who has been leader of Monmouthshire County Council since 2008.

Background

Fox runs a farm in Portskewett in the south of Monmouthshire.[1] He is Conservative county councillor for the Portskewett electoral ward, having been first elected in May 1999 and re-elected at the subsequent 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2017 elections.[2]

While deputy leader of Monmouthshire County Council he stood as Conservative candidate in the 2007 Welsh Assembly elections in the Newport East constituency.[3] He became leader of Monmouthshire County Council in May 2008 after the previous leader, Cllr Andrew Crump, was replaced by the Conservative group.[4]

Fox was awarded an OBE in the 2017 New Years Honours, for services to the Cardiff Capital Region. He had been a member of the Cardiff Capital Region Board and subsequently vice chair of the Cardiff Capital Region Shadow Cabinet.[5]
