Welcome to WikiProject Snooker. Some Wikipedians have formed this collaboration resource and group dedicated to improving Wikipedia's coverage of snooker and the organisation of information and articles on this topic. This page and its subpages contain their suggestions and various resources; it is hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of other Wikipedians interested in the topic. If you would like to help, please join the project, inquire on the talk page and see the to-do list below.
Goals and scope
This WikiProject aims primarily to:
- Improve coverage of snooker on Wikipedia.
- Improve the quality of articles.
Guidelines
- Consider the notability guidelines [draft], before creating an article.
- Adhere to the cue sports style guide [draft], especially with regard to numbers.
- Name articles according to the naming and disambiguation conventions.
- Use Template:Cuegloss to link to the glossary of cue sports terms, to provide definitions and context for snooker jargon, and avoid redundantly defining terms as they occur in articles.
- Refer to the snooker style guide for clarification on the use of nationalities and flags, recording scores and results, terminology, referencing and external links.

- Webcite- Not a resource for snooker, but an online archiving service. Since online sources for snooker tend to be volatile links can often go dead leaving information unreferenced. It is good practice to archive every reference you add to the article and include the archive address in the main reference, so if the main link dies the sourced information will not be lost.

Getting started
As a member of WikiProject Snooker, it is requested that you watchlist at least the following pages:
- Wikipedia:WikiProject Snooker – if the project members do not pay attention to changes at the project page, especially its talk page, effective collaboration will be nearly impossible and the project would eventually fail.
- Wikipedia:WikiProject Snooker/Wanted snooker bios – this is an important part of the project's to-do list.
- Snooker – our main article, frequently subject to vandalism and nonsense edits that (historically) have sometimes taken hours or even an entire day to be fixed
- 2020–21 snooker season – another important article
- Snooker world rankings 2020/2021 – another important article
- Snooker world ranking points 2020/2021 – another important article
- One or more player articles of your choice that you'd like to "adopt" as a guardian against vandalism, PoV-pushing, etc.
Keeping in touch with the rest of the team via the project pages, and keeping an occasional eye on core articles will go a long way to strengthening the project and protecting the articles. Thank you for your collaboration!
