The Tayloe family is a First Family of Virginia and prominent family in early U.S. history. Its immigrant ancestor was William Tayloe, who immigrated from Gloucester, England circa 1640 to York County, Virginia, where he was appointed as High Sheriff of the County. He belonged to the Church of England. He had three nephews, Joseph, Robert, and William Tayloe (the nephew).
