This category is for Christian saints of the Roman Empire from the Ascension of Jesus until the first splitting of the Empire into Western and Eastern jurisdictions under Diocletian in 285. After that time, the category only contains saints from the Western Roman Empire until the decline and final collapse of the Western Roman in 476. Saints from the Eastern or Byzantine Empire continued to be numbered until the fall of Fall of Constantinople in 1453.
